Heretical Friends
Heretical Friends
16” X 20”
From the series FOG COLORED HANDS (2025). For not these few, humble markers the Quaker Cemetery would be void of any indication thousands are interred in its rolling hills, as most adherents viewed grave markers as idolatrous. The few buried under these graves were seen by other more conservative Quakers as ‘heretical friends’, which is a beautiful oxymoron.
The cemetery is a well loved sledding hill for young kids; I believe the Quakers would be happy knowing this. While it is technically an alteration of the landscape and an affront to specific Quaker teachings, they have become beloved and imbued with decades of positive associated memories.
Print comes with 1” mat and a .75” thick Black Maple frame. Images are printed on 280gsm archival matte photo paper. All frames have protective UV glazing. Museum glass available for zero glare quality (email me prior to purchase).
